In the first edition of our “Getting Started With Task Pigeon Series“, we looked at how you can use the Group Task and My Task Dashboard to quickly filter between tasks you and your team are responsible for.
Categories can be used for a variety of things including:
- Grouping work by Project
- Grouping work by a particular line of work, i.e. “Marketing” or “Sales”
- Tracking tasks as they move through stages, i.e. “To-Do”, “Doing” and “Done”
Sub-Categories, on the other hand, provide you with the ability to break down work to a more granular level.
Here’s more information to help you get started.
There are three places in Task Pigeon where you can create a new category. These include:
- From the left-hand menu by clicking the “+ New Category” button
- When creating a new task
- Directly from the Kanban board view by clicking the “+ New Category” button accessible from the drop-down menu associated with each board.
Categories are one of the primary filters in Task Pigeon and make it easy to group work by project, general business category or stage of a project. Essentially you can name a category anything you wish.
Sub-Categories build on our category feature and make it easier than ever to create and organize your work within Task Pigeon.
Sub-Categories nest underneath a parent category and allow you to break down tasks to a more granular level. For example, if you had a category called “Marketing” an example of sub-categories you could nest underneath it include:
- Google Adwords
- Facebook Marketing
- Content Marketing
Alternatively, you can also use Sub-Categories to manage tasks as they project through the stage of a project. For example, if you had a project called “Launch new e-commerce store” you could have sub-categories such as:
That way you can move a task from one category to another as it progresses through your pipeline of work to do.
