You can’t have an effective task management tool without the ability to easily organize tasks and projects. With Task Pigeon you can create categories to group tasks around a common theme or project.
Creating categories in Task Pigeon is easy and can be done in two main areas:
- From the main dashboard
- When creating a new task
In this article we will look at both options, starting with how to create a category from your dashboard.
How To Create A New Category From The Project Dashboard
To create a new category from your dashboard you need to look to the secondary left hand menu.
At the bottom of your current list of categories (or at the top of this menu if you don’t currently have any) is the “+ New Category” button.
Clicking the “+ New Category” button will open a small pop up window that will allow you to name your category and assign it a color.
Once you have named your category and chosen a color click “Create”.
You can now assign new tasks (here’s how to create a new task) to that category and filter your dashboard to only show tasks within that category.
How To Create A New Category From The New Task Window
If you don’t know how to create a new task you can review this article.
As a high level summary however, if you click the “+ New Task” button in the far left hand menu a pop up will open, allowing you to create a new task.
During this process you will see a section where you can assign that task to an existing category (under the Select Category) drop down.
Alternatively, you can click the “+ New Category” name to the right hand side where you can create a new category.
Just like categories created from the main dashboard you can also assign the category a new color. You then just click “Save” to create that new category.
