At the core of any great task management application is the ability to create new tasks. With Task Pigeon we have designed our dashboard to make it easy to create and assign new tasks with ease.
There are two types of tasks you can create in Task Pigeon, General Tasks, and Checklist Tasks. The process for creating each of these tasks is the same.
Create A New Task From Your Dashboard
To create a new task in Task Pigeon you simply need to click the “+ New Task” button located in the left hand side menu.
By default the “+ New Task” button will be located at the bottom of the menu. You can however “drag and drop” the menu icons to position them in your preferred order.
Create A New Task From Kanban Boards
In addition to the left hand menu, you can also create a new task in Task Pigeon by clicking the “+ Add New Task” button at the bottom of any Kanban Board.
Both of these options will open the “New Task” window.
Select Between Creating A General Task Or A Checklist Task
Task Pigeon supports the ability to create a “general task” which has a text based description, as well as a checklist style task with individual list based items. Our checklist task functionality is available to users during their 14 day trial and to those on our paid plan.
To select between a “general task” and a checklist task you can toggle the button at the top of the new task window.
Adding Details To The New Task You Have Created
Regardless of whether you choose to create a general task or a checklist task you then have the ability to provide additional information associated with the tasks.
The only mandatory field for a new task is the task heading. Other details that you can optionally fill out include:
- The task description or individual checklist items (for checklist based tasks)
- Attachments from your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive or Box.
- A task deadline or due date
- A task category
- Choose whether you would like to create the task as a “private task“
- Individuals you have assigned the task to
Saving The New Task You Have Created
After you have finished creating your new tasks you need to hit the “Create” button to save the new details of the task.
Doing so will do a couple of things. First of all the task will now appear on the “Group Tasks Dashboard” (unless it was set as a private task). It will also appear on the “My Tasks Dashboard” for everyone assigned to the task and they will be notified on the new task via email.
